THIS LIST IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE. IT IS A PRELIMINARY LIST SO YOU CAN START LOOKING FOR CLOTHING OPTIONS IN THE MONTHS LEADING UP TO TREK.
The weather can change at Martin’s Cove, especially in June. It's important that everyone is prepared for wind, heat, cold, rain, hail, and even snow (although that would be rare this time of year). It will be cold at night. However, please pack as light as possible! Because of weight and space limitations, we are each limited in the amount of gear we can bring. Below is the list of items we feel will ensure a comfortable trek experience.
Items the Stake will provide:
Bear Bag (all of your belongings will need to fit in this one bag, sleeping bag, clothes, etc.)
Drawstring Backpack (to be used on the Trail each day for carrying personal items)
Colored Bandana
Trek Journal/Itinerary & Pen
Paper-ware for Meals
Tents
Food + Water + Snacks😀
What you will need to bring:

CLOTHING
2-3 Pioneer Outfits (see "Trek Clothing" section for more information)
2 pairs of Shoes
One pair of sturdy Tennis shoes / Hiking shoes (break them in)
One pair of Water Shoes for River Crossing. No flip-flops. They will get stuck/float down the river.
Extra plastic grocery bag/trash bag (for wet clothes/shoes)
Socks - 4 pairs (2-3 should be Wool, liners optional)
Underclothing - 4 sets
Women - breathable cotton shorts/breathable leggings to go under skirts (prevents dirt and chafing)
Work gloves to pull handcarts (optional)
Rain Poncho - VERY IMPORTANT
Western-style hat or wide-brimmed floppy hat with a chin strap to keep it from blowing away (Bonnets are okay but not recommended because they trap heat).
Winter Hat / Beanie - for cold nights.
TOILETRIES:
Toothbrush
Toothpaste
Floss
Comb or brush
Deodorant
Wet wipes or tissues for hygiene
Sanitary supplies for women
Small hand towel /washrag to clean or dry face.
SLEEPWEAR:
Sleeping bag
Sleeping pad (optional)
Small sleeping pillow
Warm, modest pajamas (it will get cold at night)
Jacket /sweatshirt (this can be rolled up in your sleeping bag)
OTHER:
Reusable, sturdy water bottle (NEED)
Small Book of Mormon (don't bring your good scriptures)
Sunglasses
Sunscreen SPF above 30
Insect repellent with DEET 30% strong or higher
Chapstick
Chafing powder (optional)
Small foam sitting pad (optional)
Small flashlight with new batteries
Hand sanitizer (personal size)
Disposable camera (optional)
Prescription medication (if it needs to be refrigerated, you need to reach out to the medical staff)
Small/personal first aid kit (6 Band-Aids, tweezers, 1 moleskin, 3×6 inch) - Optional
PLEASE DO NOT BRING:
Personal music and/or earbuds
Game systems of any kind
Electronic devices (yes, this means cell phones)
Scented lotions, aftershave, hairspray, gel, makeup, perfume/cologne (these will attract bugs)

Load-Up Night (evening of Tuesday, June 17th):
The night before departing for Trek, please bring the following items to the Stake Center to load into trailers in hopes of making the morning of departure as smooth as possible:
Bear Bag with all belongings NOT listed below.
What to bring with you to the Stake Center on Wednesday morning:
The Stake will provide you with a drawstring daypack (no need to bring a separate backpack) and a light breakfast. You will use the drawstring each day on Trek to carry personal belongings. Wednesday morning, you will only need to bring the following to put in your drawstring bag for the drive up:
Water Bottle filled with ice.
Small Pillow (optional for the 6-hour car ride).
Personal items that you will want in your drawstring bag (that will be given to you as we leave)
